Garlic is a fantastic ingredient! I wanted to create a really hot sauce with a lot of garlic. Garlic makes up over 10% of the ingredients in this. I think I can go even stronger, let me know what you think! Be careful, this is a seriously hot one!

    Super tasty. Perfect consistency for adding in with things, though you could put a few drops on something as well if you’re bold and daring. It’s a bit on the spicy side for folks who may not be used to very spicy things. Strong vinegar flavor (and odor) – yes, I’m American and that’s why I spell the way I do- which is not usually my thing, but this sauce is worth it. I add it to some sauerkraut and a bit of roast pork or beef in a slow cooker for 8-10 hours on low and it’s amazing! Spicy, garlicky, peppery, and a little sweet, with that umami added from the Black Garlic. Boy, whoever turned him on to Black Garlic should get a high five.

    On opening the bottle you get lovely garlicky, umami and mild chinense aromas on the nose. The source is a great colour and a good consistency for pouring. Don’t let that fool you the sweetness and umami flavours of the black garlic disguise some of that classic Chinense smell lulling you into a false sense of security! This sauce is very hot, and tastes amazing. Can’t wait to experiment with it more, marinating meats in a little should result in a very tasty meal I think!

    I’ve been excited about this one ever since I saw the original Garlic Fire video years back, so seeing the Royal Mail parcel on my doorstep this morning was a happy time. First of all, Shaun always takes great care with the packaging, so each order truly feels like unwrapping a Christmas present, and in my many orders heading across an ocean and most of a continent to get to me, I don’t recall anything ever taking the slightest bit of damage. It took less than two weeks to get to me, which was incredibly fast in my estimation given that journey and international customs processing. The sauce itself is beautiful — a deep dark red showing the high concentration of superhot chiles and especially the black garlic. The sauce pours very smoothly (sounds like the issues with the first batch being on the thick side have been completely addressed), but there’s still plenty of body to it as befits a chile-forward sauce. As you would expect from a black-garlic-infused sauce, there’s oodles of umami and a bit of natural sweetness, with the fruity and fragrant chile heat hot on its heels, with the salt, garlic, and vinegar rounding out an amazing savory profile. There is plenty of heat to be found here, so I recommend using it sparingly and respectfully unless you are already well accustomed to superhots, though there is nothing gimmicky involved — like everything ChilliChump makes, it makes sure that blistering heat is never used as an excuse for not making a delicious and flavorful hot sauce. The vinegar was pretty mellow to my tastebuds — I think part of that is the high quality white wine vinegar used, but I think the black garlic sweetness also rounded this off. I think this would go really great with some grilled/barbecued meats, so I can’t wait to try it there, perhaps in tandem with some of the braii spices I also ordered with it. All in all, the long wait was certainly worth it, and I think I have many deliciously spicy meals ahead of me with this one!

    Well, this was the one sauce i have never had (i think) from Shaun, as it has been long in the making. So i was obviously quite excited of the news and ordered 3. Leaving aside the consequences of the british adventure, i got the bottles and what a colour! Deep, dark red. I have seen the video on the first batch with Andre tasting it and thought i would have to have it. The taste was grandiose. Getting alot of the scorpion taste and it is “full” (Having an english co worker who describes taste as a box and when nothing is missing i.e. no holes in it as full)! But as others have warned dont eat it if you need your tongue for next 10 minutes, because that creeps up on you and smacks you on the head! I have come to expect nothing but perfection from Shaun and i have yet to be disappointed. You the man Shaun!
