How to Manage Greenhouse Temperatures in a Heatwave
You cannot always fix the roots in the middle of a heatwave, but you can lower the temperature around the plants. Airflow does most of the work.
The approach I use is simple:
- Run a strong fan to pull cooler air in from outside.
- Angle that airflow up towards the roof, where the heat collects.
- Use a second fan to move air across the side openings.
- Keep the side vents open.
- Open both doors to create as much through flow as possible.
That combination is often enough to bring the worst temperatures down from around 60C to something closer to 50C, with the odd spike above. It is still very hot, but every degree matters when plants are already under stress.
